His inspired playing and technical mastery of the instrument is the stuff of legends. Well known Woodstock drummer ERIC PARKER was another musician picked for the album who had ties to the “old days." His brother CHRIS had played the drums on “The Second Album" by BORDERLINE. Bass and harmony vocals were handled by ALBERT ROGERS, who was at the time recording and touring with Woodstock’s own JIM WEIDER. Also from WEIDER’S band was DAN McKINNEY who would do all the keyboard work on the album in addition to engineering the sessions. Having designed and built the custom recording studio that bears his name, Dan would prove to be invaluable to the project from beginning to end.
Early response has been very favorable to this new collection of all original material by these two veteran songwriters. Fans of BORDERLINE as well as those who follow the Alternative Country and American Roots scene will appreciate the honesty and clarity of the performances on “Faded Glory." Funky blues style songs, country tunes, folk flavored ballads, it’s all in there. Just like they did back in the 70s, Dave and Jon Gershen continue to find innovative ways to translate these great musical traditions into their own unique sound.
Plans are now being made for a number of live performances in North America and they hope to tour Japan in the near future. They will begin work on the follow up to “Faded Glory" soon.
